A reading above 50 suggests economic expansion, while one below 50 indicates contraction.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cBusiness sentiment has improved,\u201d said Huo Lihui, chief statistician of the bureau\u2019s service industry survey centre, adding that both the supply and demand sides of the manufacturing industry had strengthened, with small enterprises seeing a notable rise in activity.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The new orders sub-index \u2013 a measure of manufacturing demand \u2013 came in at 49.2 in November, up from 48.8 in October.
