{"id":208128,"date":"2025-11-30T14:20:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T14:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/208128\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T14:20:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T14:20:08","slug":"goshh-drives-stigma-free-hiv-conversations-in-limerick-with-coffee-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/208128\/","title":{"rendered":"GOSHH drives stigma-free HIV conversations in Limerick with coffee morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GOSHH (Gender Orientation Sexual Health HIV) will mark World AIDS Day with a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/131\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick<\/a>-based events aimed at raising awareness, encouraging early diagnosis, and challenging the stigma that continues to surround HIV.<\/p>\n<p>On December 1, the organisation is inviting the public to its Limerick city office for a community coffee morning, where visitors can meet the testing team, learn more about HIV, and avail of free, rapid and confidential HIV testing.<\/p>\n<p>Two screenings of the award-winning Irish documentary &#8216;How to Tell a Secret&#8217; will also take place at 12pm and 5pm, opening conversations about disclosure and the lived experience of people with HIV in Ireland today.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/environment\/1954929\/shannon-airport-unveils-irelands-first-airfield-solar-pv-farm-in-major-6-6m-investment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Shannon Airport unveils Ireland\u2019s first airfield solar PV farm in major \u20ac6.6m investment<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s World AIDS Day theme, \u201cOvercoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,\u201d highlights the importance of practical, community-led action, something GOSHH says it remains committed to through its Limerick services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven with incredible treatment advances, stigma and late diagnosis are still major hurdles,\u201d says Ayushi Patel, Sexual Health Engagement Coordinator. \u201cBy offering late-night testing and screening \u2018How to Tell a Secret\u2019, we\u2019re creating opportunities for conversation, understanding, and early diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GOSHH is also emphasising the U=U message, Undetectable = Untransmittable, reinforcing that people with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus sexually.<\/p>\n<p>Limerick residents are invited to drop in for a coffee, attend a screening, get tested, or simply learn more as GOSHH marks World AIDS Day with a call for a more informed and supportive community.<\/p>\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT &#8211;
