Searchers have recovered the body of this missing man<\/a> from a major river \u2013 but are still scouring its waters for a boy who disappeared almost two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Gardai<\/a> have confirmed that the search for missing man Jordan Newman was stood down after a body was recovered from a stretch of the River Boyne between Slane and Newgrange in Co Meath<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

But the search of the same river is still taking place for 14-year-old Benjamin Spot<\/a> \u2013 amid increased fears that he also fell into it.<\/p>\n

Mr Newman, 28, had been missing from his native Navan<\/a> since Monday, November 10.<\/p>\n

There had been a major search of the Boyne and also on land for Mr Newman and that ended with his body being recovered on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Gardai said in a statement on Sunday: \u201cFollowing the discovery of a man\u2019s body, the missing person appeal for Jordan Newman (28) who was reported missing from Navan, Co. Meath since Monday 10th November 2025, has been stood down.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several agencies and volunteer groups were involved in the search for Mr Newman, and his body was found by members of the Silverbridge Kayak Club, based in nearby Drogheda, Co Louth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meath Civil Defence, which played a central role in the search, said on its Facebook page on Saturday evening that Meath River Rescue then recovered Mr Newman\u2019s body from the river.<\/p>\n

And it said searchers were now back on the river looking for Benjamin, who vanished from Navan town centre 12 days ago.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cOur search for Jordan Newman has been stood down following the recovery of his body which was located by Silverbridge kayak team and recovered by Meath River Rescue boat team.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur sincere condolences go to his family and friends. May Jordan Rest in eternal Peace<\/p>\n

\u201cThe search for Benjamin Spot continues tomorrow.<\/p>\n

We reported last week that gardai looking for Benjamin were searching the River Boyne in Navan<\/a> after he disappeared from there on November 19.<\/p>\n

Sources tell us gardai believe Benjamin, who is from nearby Johnstown and is also known as Beni, fell into the river on that day.<\/p>\n

He disappeared after he was seen cycling in the Ramparts\/Kentstown Road area of Navan, at around 5.55pm.<\/p>\n

His bicycle was subsequently found at the Ramparts early the following day.<\/p>\n

But sources have now told us gardai believe the bike was taken from the river and placed at the scene.<\/p>\n

They stressed that whoever did that did not realise it belonged to the missing boy and thought he or she was doing a good turn by recovering a child\u2019s bike from the water.<\/p>\n

The case is still being treated as a missing person\u2019s case and is being managed by the Meath Garda division\u2019s community engagement team, but an incident room has now been set up.<\/p>\n

The community engagement team is being assisted by the local crime team \u2013 but sources stressed that did not mean any criminality was suspected.<\/p>\n

Benjamin lives with his father in Johnstown. His mother Renata Molnarova, who has been living in her native Slovakia since 2023, has now come back to Ireland and is desperate for news on her boy.<\/p>\n

Ms Molnarova has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n

She told the Meath Chronicle late last week: “Beni is always one step in front of me. He is very smart. He is very clever. He is a good student. He doesn’t have to try hard to learn, he is a very good student.”<\/p>\n

Gardai made a fresh appeal for help in finding Benjamin last Wednesday \u2013 a week since he disappeared.<\/p>\n

The force said: \u201cGarda\u00ed are continuing to seek the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Benjamin Spot (14), who was reported missing in Navan, Co. Meath on Wednesday, 19th November 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cBenjamin is described as being approximately 5 foot 1 inches in height, with blonde hair and blue eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBenjamin was last seen cycling from the Market Square in Navan towards the Kentstown Road\/Ramparts area of Navan last Wednesday evening, 19th November 2025 around 5.55pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cBenjamin\u2019s bicycle was subsequently found at the Ramparts, Navan the following day, 20th November. Garda\u00ed and Benjamin\u2019s family are concerned for his well-being.<\/p>\n
