From Tuesday, December 9, to Sunday, December 14, visitors to The Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght will be able to browse up to 10 tonnes of lost parcels, sold by weight.<\/p>\n

Shoppers can choose between standard parcels, priced at \u20ac2.49 per 100 grams, and premium parcels at \u20ac2.99 per 100 grams.<\/p>\n

Each customer will have 10 minutes to select their parcels, but the contents remain unknown until after purchase.<\/p>\n

The pop-up is the first of its kind in Ireland, following successful events in Paris, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Berlin.<\/p>\n

King Colis, the French company behind the concept, operates in 14 European countries, with plans to expand further across Western and parts of Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n

CEO and co-founder Killian Denis said the idea for King Colis emerged during the Covid lockdown.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was home with my kids, and they asked me every day to order toys or games online,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany packages never arrived, and I started wondering what happens to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI discovered that maybe 90pc of lost packages are destroyed, which is crazy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe return costs are too high, so we thought there was an opportunity to do business while also helping the planet by reducing waste and promoting a circular economy,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Since 2023, King Colis has been purchasing lost packages and giving them a second life.<\/p>\n

Mr Denis said the parcels can contain anything, reflecting what people typically order online.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can get literally anything, which is a lot of fun. Some customers have found really valuable items,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn France, one person discovered a collectible gold bar, while in Italy someone found an ultra-rare Pok\u00e9mon card valued at \u20ac4,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are also special edition sneakers, computer motherboards, electronics and fashion items.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of products are electronics and fashion, that\u2019s what everyone orders online.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that the pop-up in Dublin is expected to be just as popular as events elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so excited to finally be bringing King Colis and its concept to Dublin,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always exciting because you never know what you\u2019ll get \u2013 sometimes there are real treasures hidden inside. <\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, luck plays a big role in what you find in your packages, but one thing is certain, the experience is unforgettable.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe the turnout will be great, as it has been elsewhere, and I advise anyone thinking about it to get down early as stock is limited.\u201d<\/p>\n

Visitors can attend the pop-up free of charge, although minors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Fast passes are available for \u20ac15 via the King Colis website.<\/p>\n
