{"id":209934,"date":"2025-12-01T17:03:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T17:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/209934\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T17:03:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T17:03:10","slug":"irish-inflation-climbs-over-3-again-on-higher-energy-and-food-prices-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/209934\/","title":{"rendered":"Irish inflation climbs over 3% again on higher energy and food prices \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cost-of-living\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cost-of-living\/\">Inflation<\/a> in Ireland has climbed to more than 3 per cent again driven by higher energy and food prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The latest flash estimate for the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) put the annualised rate of price growth at 3.2 per cent in November, up from 2.8 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This compares to a rate of 2.1 per cent for the euro zone as a whole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A breakdown of the components for Ireland indicate that energy prices were estimated to have grown by 0.7 per cent in the month and rose by 3.3 per cent over the 12 months to November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Food prices are estimated to be unchanged in the month and increased by 4.2 per cent in the past 12 months, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\">Central Statistics Office<\/a> (CSO) said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/business\/2025\/11\/17\/grocery-inflation-remains-over-6-as-christmas-spending-ramps-up\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grocery inflation remains over 6% as Christmas spending ramps upOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The acceleration in basic grocery costs is now the main financial pressure on households here.
