Coffee shops across Cork city were abuzz as the Cork Business Association\u2019s (CBA) Coffee House Lates campaign created \u201ca gorgeous atmosphere\u201d.<\/p>\n
The two-day campaign, which saw dozens of daytime coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants across Cork city extend their opening hours on Thursday and Friday, was first trialled among city venues last year.<\/p>\n
The initiative showcases Cork\u2019s coffee culture, attracts new customers to city businesses, tests the night-time market, and strengthens the sense of community for people seeking a fresh, alternative night out in Cork.<\/p>\n
Highlights from this year\u2019s programme of events included a jazz night at N\u00e1d\u00far Deli that spread out to the Nano Nagle Place courtyard; the launch of an inspiring art exhibition by Silvo Severino at Filter; a Knit Night with Stolen Stitches at Greenwich Cafe, and a choral performance by C\u00f3r Bl\u00e1th Oraiste, with warm drinks at The Lee Cafe.<\/p>\n
Aaron Mansworth, president of the CBA, said this year\u2019s campaign was \u201ca fantastic showcase of Cork\u2019s vibrant coffee-and-tea scene, and shows how we can attract different people into our city\u201d.<\/p>\n

Clare Condon, of N\u00e1d\u00far Deli, said she loves the concept of Coffee House Lates. \u201cWe were blown away by the turnout to our event at N\u00e1d\u00far Deli on the plaza of Nano Nagle Place.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was such a buzz, and guests were loving the whole experience of food, drinks, jazz, and shopping in the outdoors with sparkling festive lights,\u201d said Ms Condon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a gorgeous atmosphere. Coffee House Lates is a great initiative, and it\u2019s clear that people are looking for unique experiences in the evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s certainly something we would like to do more of.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fiona Collins, Cork City Council\u2019s night-time economy advisor, said the response to the campaign \u201chas been phenomenal\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe events highlighted the potential for Cork to embrace a more diverse evening scene,\u201d said Ms Collins.<\/p>\n
