A man has died following what appears to be an accidental shooting in Co Carlow.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed were alerted to a firearms incident at a rural location near Leighlinbridge, in Co Carlow, late Tuesday evening, December 2.<\/p>\n
A male aged in his early 20s sustained fatal injuries during the incident.<\/p>\n
The Irish Independent understands that the man died following an accidental shooting while hunting in a rural location in Carlow.<\/p>\n
In a statement, a garda spokesperson confirmed that a man had been fatally injured during the incident.<\/p>\n
“Garda\u00ed were called to a firearms incident at a rural location near Leighlinbridge, Co Carlow, late yesterday evening, Tuesday, December 2, 2025,\u201d said a garda spokesperson.<\/p>\n
\u201cA male aged in his early 20s sustained fatal injuries. The scene is currently held for technical examination. Enquiries are ongoing and no further information is available at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The local community of Leighlinbridge are in a state of shock following the news that a young man has died during the incident.<\/p>\n
“The community is stunned, saddened and shocked that a young man has lost his life,\u201d said local Carlow county councillor Michael Doran speaking to the Irish Independent. \u201cIt is still early days, but what I have been told is that it was a hunting accident.<\/p>\n
“The people here locally are truly shocked and saddened by the incident and our thoughts go out to the young man\u2019s family, friends and loved ones.<\/p>\n
