Fern Hook, an artist who goes by the name \u201cAntireal\u201d online, <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/4nt1r34l\/status\/1995907613004018047?s=20\" data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:posted on X;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">posted on X<\/a> that her issues with Bungie using her work without credit in Marathon have been resolved to her &#8220;satisfaction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">Marathon&#8217;s distinct art style is one of its charms, but as Hook <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/4nt1r34l\/status\/1923067988871147605?s=20\" data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:claimed on X;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">claimed on X<\/a> and <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MarathonDevTeam\/status\/1923217324384903262?s=20\" data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Bungie later confirmed;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">Bungie later confirmed<\/a>, a portion of the assets and textures featured in the game&#8217;s alpha were lifted from Hook&#8217;s work. At the time, Bungie announced that it was conducting an investigation and hoped to discuss the issue with Hook. It&#8217;s not clear what kind of agreement Bungie, Sony and Hook came to, but it appears to have solved any outstanding issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">Bungie delayed Marathon from its original September 2025 launch date in June, and more recently ran <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/bungie-will-conduct-technical-testing-on-marathon-later-this-month-213422857.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:6;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:closed playtests;cpos:6;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">closed playtests<\/a> of an updated version of the game in October. As of Sony&#8217;s November earnings report, the company now says Marathon <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcgamer.com\/games\/fps\/sony-says-marathon-will-still-release-by-march-2026-pinky-promise-and-as-needed-we-will-make-corrections\/\" data-i13n=\"cpos:7;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:will launch by March 2026;cpos:7;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">will launch by March 2026<\/a>. Marathon is a reimagining of an older Bungie franchise, but more importantly, it&#8217;s also the developer&#8217;s first new game since <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2017-06-13-destiny-2-release-dates-confirmed-for-pc-and-consoles.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:8;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:Destiny 2;cpos:8;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Destiny 2<\/a> was released in 2017.
