A previously unreleased song by Scott Weiland<\/a> called \u2018If I Could Fly\u2019 is being shared, 10 years after his death.<\/p>\n

The song was penned by the late Stone Temple Pilots<\/a> frontman back in 2000 after the birth of his son, Noah.<\/p>\n

It captures the same distinctive sound that put Weiland on the map, and sees him pair heartfelt acoustic guitar melodies with a powerful, anthemic chorus.<\/p>\n

The track remained unreleased, and last week it was finally made available in vinyl format to celebrate Black Friday Record Store Day<\/a> 2025.<\/p>\n

Yesterday (Wednesday December 3), a post was made on the singer\u2019s official Facebook page, confirming that it was being made available on streaming platforms as well.<\/p>\n

It arrives via Primary Wave\/Virgin, and comes exactly a decade to the day since Weiland passed away.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cTo honour 10 years since Scott Weiland\u2019s passing, we\u2019re releasing something truly special for the real fans,\u201d read the caption. \u201cThis is the first unheard song from Scott\u2019s archive since he left us. It is personal, raw and a reminder of the heart that ran through all his work.<\/p>\n

\u201cScott\u2019s legacy spans Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver<\/a>, a stack of awards, and more than 50 million albums sold. But it\u2019s songs like this that show why people stayed connected to him for decades,\u201d it added. \u201c\u2018If I Could Fly\u2019 bridges two generations of listeners and gives back a piece of Scott that\u2019s been held close for 25 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The artist died in 2015 at age 48<\/a>. It reported that the cause of death was an accidental overdose due to the vocalist taking a \u201ctoxic mix of drugs\u201d<\/a>. Those claims have been contested by the singer\u2019s widow, Jamie Wachtel Weiland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To mark the 10th anniversary of his death, his son Noah held a show at the Garden Amp outdoor amphitheater in Orange County, where he broke out covers of some of his dad\u2019s material. He was joined on stage by Jakob Nowell, who is the son of the late Sublime<\/a> frontman, Bradley Nowell.<\/p>\n

As highlighted by Consequence<\/a>, Noah has honoured his father\u2019s memory before too, dropping covers of both the classic Velvet Revolver track \u2018Slither\u2019 and Stone Temple Pilots\u2019 \u2018Sex Type Thing\u2019.<\/a><\/p>\n

Last year, it was shared that Noah was also reworking unreleased vocals from his father on a new song called \u2018Time Will Tell\u2019, after an alleged blackmail attempt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was reported that Scott had worked on an unfinished demo of the song before his death, and this was obtained by an unknown individual, who had threatened to leak it online unless Noah handed over $2,000.<\/p>\n
