{"id":215567,"date":"2025-12-04T19:35:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T19:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/215567\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T19:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T19:35:15","slug":"70-highly-skilled-jobs-announced-for-limerick-city-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/215567\/","title":{"rendered":"70 highly-skilled jobs announced for Limerick city centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/693162b87d283.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Spanish chipmaking company Openchip has announced the opening of a new design centre in Limerick.\n        <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">Spanish chipmaking company Openchip has announced the opening of a new design centre in Limerick, providing capacity for up to 70 highly skilled research and development roles.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">The new design centre is located in the Gardens International building on Henry Street, a multi-award-winning architectural fusion developed by Limerick Twenty Thirty.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">Openchip&#8217;s innovation will power the next generation of AI and supercomputing systems across Europe.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">The Limerick centre currently houses around 40 experienced R&amp;D staff, a number expected to grow to 70 within the coming year.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">The company is recruiting from graduates to senior experts, leveraging the strong talent ecosystem and collaboration between local universities and industry in Ireland\u2019s Midwest region.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke TD, said the opening is another &#8220;strong endorsement of Ireland\u2019s global reputation as a hub for research and development&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">He added that the investment aligns with Silicon Island: Ireland\u2019s National Semiconductor Strategy. CEO of IDA Ireland, Michael Lohan, called the decision a &#8220;strong endorsement of Ireland\u2019s National Semiconductor Strategy&#8221; and excellent news for the Midwest region.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Openchip is headquartered in Barcelona and integrates high-performance RISC-V\u2013based accelerators and systems-on-chip with an innovative full-stack software platform.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">The company is recognised by the European Commission as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI).<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Cesc Guim, CEO of Openchip\u00a0said: \u201cOpenchip&#8217;s growth is vital for achieving European digital sovereignty. Our expansion, including strategic locations in Europe like Ireland, is key to building the robust, homegrown semiconductor, AI and advanced technologies ecosystem Europe needs.
