On August 4 this year, Carlow-born Martha Nolan (33) met with her business investor, Christopher Durnan, aboard his boat at Montauk Yacht Club in New York.<\/p>\n

Mr Durnan, a 60-year-old millionaire, had already invested $250,000 in East x East, Ms Nolan\u2019s sunglasses and swimwear brand.<\/p>\n

The company needed more money to grow, and so, the pair met that evening to discuss further investment.<\/p>\n

As the sun set, the pair shared Champagne and talked business out on the water.<\/p>\n

But later that night, Ms Nolan\u2019s friends grew uneasy. Messages in their group chat went unanswered.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure her phone died. Or maybe she\u2019s dead,\u201d one friend joked. A throwaway comment that, in the moment, felt harmless.<\/p>\n

But an hour or so later, she actually was dead.<\/p>\n

Several months on, why are there still more questions than answers?<\/p>\n

What do we know about the man who was on the boat with her that night?<\/p>\n

And how did a hopeful attempt to build an American dream turn into her family\u2019s worst nightmare?<\/p>\n
