\n\tDua Lipa<\/a> paid tribute to Selena in Mexico City Friday during the singer\u2019s final stop of her Radical Optimism World Tour.<\/p>\n

\n\tThroughout the globe-spanning trek, Lipa has delivered surprise regional covers<\/a> at every show. That trend continued for the tour\u2019s final leg, a run through Latin America that found Lipa performing the covers in Spanish and Portuguese<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter nearly nine months on the road, the tour concluded Friday night at Mexico City\u2019s Estadio GNP Seguros, where Lipa honored one of the country\u2019s most beloved singers with a rendition of \u201cAmor Prohibido.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI chose this song because I feel a very special connection with this artist and with her feeling of belonging to two places at the same time,\u201d Lipa said in Spanish. \u201cIt\u2019s something I deeply identify with, as I feel I am both Albanian and English, just as she was Mexican and American.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singer previously admitted of singing in Spanish, \u201cIt\u2019s very nerve-wracking! Especially when we we\u2019re doing them in different languages, that\u2019s definitely \u2014 my God, my playlist was on loop, all I was doing was looking at the lyrics and listening over and over for intonations and accents and how to try and perfect things in Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Czech.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tEver since the Radical Optimism tour launched in Australia in March 2025, Lipa has covered a song tied to the city or country she\u2019s visiting. On the United States leg of the tour, she pulled from artists native to each state, and internationally, she\u2019s leaned into classics from the countries she\u2019s in. The surprise songs sometimes featured special guests, like when she was joined onstage by Gwen Stefani<\/a>, Billie Joe Armstrong<\/a>, and Lionel Richie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis was my idea.
