{"id":220114,"date":"2025-12-07T12:43:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T12:43:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/220114\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T12:43:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T12:43:15","slug":"bytedances-agentic-ai-smartphone-dials-up-a-digital-backlash-from-chinas-top-apps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/220114\/","title":{"rendered":"ByteDance\u2019s agentic AI smartphone dials up a digital backlash from China\u2019s top apps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, has moved to tighten controls on its artificial intelligence-powered smartphone after several of China\u2019s most widely used apps restricted its voice-operated functions.<\/p>\n<p>The company said it had scaled back the capabilities of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/o.doubao.com\/\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\">Doubao<\/a>, the agentic AI that runs on the device.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">In a statement issued on Friday, ByteDance said it would prevent the Nubia M153 AI phone from claiming incentives that were intended for active human users.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">It was also disabling the assistant\u2019s interaction with financial apps, including banking and payment services, and suspending AI features in competitive games to preserve fair play.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The measures followed moves by a number of leading platforms to limit Doubao\u2019s operations, including Alipay, the payment app owned by Ant Group, an affiliate of Alibaba Group Holding, which also owns the South China Morning Post.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The handset, launched as a trial product, has attracted strong interest from early adopters by offering a way to control the device without touching the screen.
