US Stock Futures Slip as Investors Look Ahead to Nvidia Earnings  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block finance-sc-block-html mntl-sc-block-html\"> U.S. stock futures are pointing lower after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/dow-jones-today-08222025-11795758\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">indexes soared Friday<\/a> as investors look ahead to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/what-to-expect-in-markets-this-week-nvidia-earnings-a-key-measure-of-inflation-and-more-11795525\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earnings reports from Nvidia and others<\/a> later this week. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/n\/nasdaq.asp\" class=\"pseudoStyle\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nasdaq<\/a> futures are 0.3% lower after the tech-focused index gained nearly 2% Friday as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell indicated that interest rates could be cut. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/s\/sp500.asp\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/d\/djia.asp\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> futures are down by 0.2%, with the Dow coming off its first record close of the year. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note is ticking higher. Oil futures are up. Gold futures are down.\n<\/p>\n<p>  2. Intel Stock Rises After US Government Takes 10% Stake in Chipmaker  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block finance-sc-block-html mntl-sc-block-html\"> Intel (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=INTC\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">INTC<\/a>) shares are advancing about 2% in premarket trading, although paring earlier gains, after the U.S. government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/trump-strikes-deal-giving-us-government-10-percent-stake-in-intel-11796059\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">took a 10% stake in the struggling chipmaker<\/a>. The passive ownership stake, which is worth approximately $11.1 billion, is being funded by a combination of paid and not yet paid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/chips-and-science-act-6500333\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CHIPS Act<\/a> awards, Intel said. &#8220;This is a great Deal for America and, also, a great Deal for INTEL,&#8221; Trump posted on his Truth Social network Friday. Intel shares gained 5% on Friday amid a broader market rally amid anticipation of a deal after\u00a0Bloomberg\u00a0reported an announcement would be coming soon.\n<\/p>\n<p>  3. Keurig Dr. Pepper Buying Peet&#8217;s Coffee Parent for $18B, Then Plans to Separate  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block finance-sc-block-html mntl-sc-block-html\"> Keurig Dr. Pepper (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=KDP\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KDP<\/a>) on Monday said it has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/keurig-dr-pepper-buying-peets-coffee-parent-for-usd18b-before-planned-separation-11796633\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">struck a deal to buy JDE Peet&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0for 15.7 billion euros ($18.4 billion) in cash, then plans to separate its coffee and beverage businesses. Keurig Dr Pepper said once its takeover of the Dutch parent of Peet&#8217;s Coffee closes, likely in the first half of 2026, it plans to separate into two U.S.-listed firms\u2014one housing the coffee business and the other with its beverage brands, including its namesake brand, Snapple, and 7UP. Shares of Keurig Dr. Pepper are lower by more than 3% in premarket trading, while JDE Peet stock is up 17% in Amsterdam trading.\n<\/p>\n<p>  4. Furniture Stocks Move on Trump Tariffs Announcement  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block finance-sc-block-html mntl-sc-block-html\"> Stocks of several furniture makers moved in premarket trading after Trump announced &#8220;a major Tariff Investigation on Furniture coming into the United States&#8221; on his Truth Social network Friday afternoon. Shares of RH (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=RH\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RH<\/a>), Wayfair (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=W\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">W<\/a>), and Williams-Sonoma (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=WSM\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WSM<\/a>)\u2014which rely heavily on furniture imports\u2014are down roughly 8%, 7%, and 3.5%, respectively. Ether Drops After Hitting Record; Bitcoin, Crypto Stocks Also Lower  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block finance-sc-block-html mntl-sc-block-html\"> Cryptocurrencies are falling, taking some crypto-related stocks down with them. After reaching a record high this weekend, ether (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=ethusd\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ETHUSD<\/a>) is shedding 4.5% to trade below $4,600. Meanwhile, bitcoin\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/markets\/quote?tvwidgetsymbol=btcusd\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(BTCUSD<\/a>) is about 1.5% lower to trade at around $111,000.
