This makes it the only base of its kind in the country and Asia\u2019s largest satellite manufacturing hub, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.<\/p>\n<p>The new factory comes amid a boom in China\u2019s commercial space sector. Backed by supportive policies, a surge in private rocket launches and even early <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3332658\/chinas-chief-space-contractor-readies-plans-tourism-programme?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">visions of space tourism<\/a>, Beijing is accelerating its efforts to compete with the US.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The facility\u2019s main advantage lies in the speed of its pipeline, which could significantly reduce costs, Xinhua reported. Satellites could move from final assembly to launch pads in a matter of hours instead of days, thanks to its proximity to the Wenchang and Hainan commercial launch sites, both just a few kilometres away.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China has already seen a record number of space launches in 2025, with the tally reaching 80 by December 6 according to the Space Stats Online database.
