{"id":227342,"date":"2025-12-11T11:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T11:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/227342\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T11:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T11:56:09","slug":"salah-branded-toxic-by-saudi-chief-as-reds-star-is-told-hes-not-a-fit-for-our-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/227342\/","title":{"rendered":"Salah branded &#8216;toxic&#8217; by Saudi chief as Reds star is told he&#8217;s &#8216;not a fit for our league&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saudi Pro League club owner Ben Harburg insists \u201ctoxic\u201d Mohamed Salah is \u201cnot a fit for our league\u201d amid his behaviour at Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds were shook on Saturday when Salah told reporters that Liverpool had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/mohamed-salah-thrown-under-the-bus-liverpool-no-relationship-with-slot\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>\u201cthrown him under the bus\u201d<\/strong><\/a> after he was on the bench for a third match in a row.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/liverpool\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Liverpool<\/strong><\/a> were held to a 3-3 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, Salah also insisted that his relationship with Arne Slot was broken.<\/p>\n<p>That led to criticism from Jamie Carragher and others over his attitude with some thinking it was a selfish action as Liverpool attempt to turn around their form.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds hierarchy and Slot made a joint decision to leave Salah out of the Liverpool squad which travelled to Italy on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/opinion-salah-liverpool-inter-var-victory\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>in a 1-0 win over Inter Milan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That has led to rumours that Salah could be sold by Liverpool to the Saudi Pro League or elsewhere over the January transfer window with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/liverpool-agree-personal-terms-with-semenyo-amid-salah-crisis-as-they-match-man-city-offer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a deal for Antoine Semenyo reportedly being lined up<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/predicting-biggest-january-transfers-salah-semenyo-liverpool-mainoo-man-utd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Semenyo to replace Salah at Liverpool as 10 likeliest January transfers ranked<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But, after seeing Salah\u2019s behaviour and recent performances, Harburg \u2013 who owns Saudi Pro League side\u00a0Al Kholood \u2013 doesn\u2019t think the Liverpool forward is the type of player the league should be attempting to sign.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about a move for Salah, Harburg said: \u201cI do think there\u2019s already, even amongst the public, much more apprehension around his coming into the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s 33 years old, he got paid a boatload a year or so ago, whatever it was, and has underperformed massively since then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe doesn\u2019t strike me as a great team player. As an owner, when I look at the way he behaved there \u2026 if a player isn\u2019t performing, they\u2019re not going to be in the starting line up. We don\u2019t put people in the starting line up based on what they did three seasons ago or even last season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll that, to me, combines for a fairly toxic combination of factors. So I would rather he not come here.
