Munster Technological University (MTU) has announced the appointment of Ger O\u2019Mahoney as the new chairperson of its governing body.<\/p>\n
Mr O\u2019Mahoney\u2019s appointment comes following an open recruitment process earlier this year.<\/p>\n
He is a graduate of business accounting from MTU and currently works as a senior partner at PwC, where he acts as the head of the regional advisory team.<\/p>\n
He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers.<\/p>\n
Mr O\u2019Mahoney will begin his five-year term of office from January 1, succeeding Jimmy Deenihan, who has served as chairperson since June 2021.<\/p>\n
Professor Maggie Cusack, who is the president of MTU, said the organisation is \u201cdelighted to welcome Ger as chairperson of MTU\u2019s governing body on New Year\u2019s Day 2026\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis knowledge of the university, professional experience, and commitment to public service will help MTU advance our strategic goals,\u201d said Ms Cusack.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cGer brings a clear understanding of the opportunities ahead for our students, staff, neighbouring communities and partners.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cI would also like to acknowledge Jimmy\u2019s exceptional leadership during the establishment of MTU and thank him sincerely for his continued dedication to the University and the southwest region.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr O\u2019Mahoney said he is \u201chonoured and delighted to accept this appointment as chair of the governing body of MTU\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to pay tribute to Jimmy Deenihan for his excellent stewardship and his dedication to bringing the university to its current position of strength,\u201d said Mr O\u2019Mahoney.<\/p>\n
\u201cI look forward to working with the Governors and the executive team as we continue to deliver on the strategic objectives of the University.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, I believe we can continue to support MTU\u2019s growth and impact in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Deenihan said it has been \u201ca privilege to serve MTU during its formative years\u201d.<\/p>\n
