Shanakiel\u2019s Lottie O\u2019Driscoll Murray, 14, will represent Ireland in the Junior Eurovision in Tbilisi, Georgia, tomorrow night, and the people of Cork are being asked to show their support by voting online.<\/p>\n
While the show takes place on Saturday night, the voting opens tonight.<\/p>\n
Unlike in the adult Eurovision contest, junior competition voters can vote for their own country.<\/p>\n
The participants\u2019 scores will be made up of 50% jury and 50% public votes.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s singing since she could speak \u2014 it\u2019s been her dream since way back to represent Ireland, so there\u2019s high emotion all around,\u201d mum Celine told The Echo.<\/p>\n
The team flew out to Georgia on December 5 ahead of the contest tomorrow, where Lottie will be singing the song R\u00fain in Irish.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone is behind her, the whole of Cork,\u201d said Celine. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lottie, who attends Gaelchol\u00e1iste Mhuire off Monastery Rd on the northside of the city and previously went to Gaelscoil Pheig Sayers primary,told The Echo: \u201cI\u2019m buzzing, walking on air.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added that she had never been to Georgia before this trip, and had been \u201csinging since I was a baby\u201d so it is her dream to represent Ireland.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI never really get nervous, I just love performing,\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
she said.<\/p>\n
The first voting window opens tonight at 8pm Irish time, and closes tomorrow just before 4pm.<\/p>\n
The second voting window will open after the last song has been performed during the live show, with supporters from around Europe then having around 15 minutes to cast their vote before the window closes.<\/p>\n
