Garda spokesperson<\/a> said: “Garda\u00ed are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on Old Cross Square, Monaghan, Co Monaghan, which occurred today, Saturday 13th December 2025.<\/p>\n“Shortly after 10:15am, Garda\u00ed and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a lorry and a pedestrian. The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n
“The coroner was notified and male\u2019s body has since been removed to Monaghan mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
“The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since reopened.<\/p>\n
“Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area of Old Cross Square, Monaghan between 10:00am and 10:30am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.<\/p>\n
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”<\/p>\n
