{"id":232038,"date":"2025-12-14T06:38:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-14T06:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/232038\/"},"modified":"2025-12-14T06:38:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T06:38:10","slug":"worst-48-hours-since-i-joined-the-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/232038\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Worst 48 hours since I joined the club&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Enzo Maresca has bizarrely described the last couple of days as \u2018the worst\u2019 of his time as Chelsea boss, after a 2-0 win over Everton ended a four-game winless run since the 3-0 thrashing of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>One point from two Premier League games against Leeds and Bournemouth had seen Chelsea slip out of title contention, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/opinion-chelsea-make-napoli-game-must-win-maresca-awful-excuse-atalanta-collapse\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a 2-1 defeat at Atalanta<\/strong><\/a> has raised the prospect of requiring a play-off to reach the last 16 in the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, it was a surprise to see Maresca so combative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/opinion-cold-palmer-warms-chelsea-hearts-self-fulfilling-title-stumble\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>after a solid home win over the Toffees<\/strong><\/a>, especially as there had been little evidence of his darkening mood during Friday\u2019s pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about Malo Gusto\u2019s goal to put Chelsea 2-0 up before half-time, Maresca said: \u2018This is the reason why I praise the players because with so many problems they are doing very well after a complicated week.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Since I joined the club the last 48 hours has been the worst 48 hours since I joined the club because many people didn\u2019t support us.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So very happy for Malo in that moment that the effort from Malo and the rest showed that they are all there and want to help this club.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Asked to clarify what specifically had made the last 48 hours so difficult, Maresca reiterated a lack of \u2018support\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Worst 48 hours since I joined the club because people didn\u2019t support me and the team.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Asked who exactly he was talking about, and whether his issue was with the club or supporters, Maresca again stopped short of absolute clarity.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In general.
