{"id":23368,"date":"2025-08-26T02:06:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T02:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/23368\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T02:06:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T02:06:07","slug":"carragher-believes-newcastle-should-sell-alexander-isak-after-nightmare-he-endured-at-anfield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/23368\/","title":{"rendered":"Carragher believes Newcastle &#8216;should sell&#8217; Alexander Isak after &#8216;nightmare&#8217; he endured at Anfield"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jamie Carragher claims a \u201cnightmare\u201d experience he endured at Liverpool is behind his belief that \u201cNewcastle should sell Alexander Isak\u201d to the Reds this summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/tag\/alexander-isak\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isak<\/a><\/strong> is currently training apart from his Newcastle teammates and refusing to play for the club as he looks to force through a move to Liverpool, with the striker citing \u2018broken promises\u2019 with regard to a new contract as the reason for his strike action in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/newcastle-refuse-to-be-bullied-into-liverpool-sale-by-alexander-isak-statement\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a statement he released on social media on Tuesday<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Isak said on Instagram: \u201cI\u2019ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn\u2019t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can\u2019t continue. That\u2019s where things are for me right now \u2013 and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Releasing a statement in response, Newcastle said:\u00a0\u201cWe have been clear that the conditions for a sale this summer have not transpired. There will be so many people outside Newcastle telling Newcastle and Eddie Howe what to do \u2013 \u2018you\u2019ve got to be strong, you\u2019ve got to show players in the future that they can\u2019t come in and demand to go\u2019. But they don\u2019t have the problem of Isak every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t have the problem Eddie Howe has of going into every press conference and being asked about him \u2013 It\u2019s a cloud over the club every day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got experience of it. We had this with Fernando Torres at Liverpool. He didn\u2019t really want to be at the club but ended up staying before we sold him in January [to Chelsea for \u00a350m]. That four or five months was a nightmare for the club and everyone at the club couldn\u2019t wait for him to move on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNewcastle are a club delighted to be in the Champions League.
