{"id":23374,"date":"2025-08-26T02:09:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T02:09:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/23374\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T02:09:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T02:09:12","slug":"planning-granted-for-uhk-extension-to-provide-30-new-beds-radiokerry-ie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/23374\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning granted for UHK extension to provide 30 new beds | RadioKerry.ie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Planning has been granted for a new three-storey extension at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/news\/university-hospital-kerry\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UHK<\/a> which will deliver 30 additional patient beds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrycoco.ie\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kerry County Council<\/a> has granted planning for the new section of the hospital, which will place three extra storeys on top of the existing building.<\/p>\n<p>The development is a vertical extension of the main UHK building in Tralee, which was originally constructed in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>Within the three-storeys, will be a mix of single rooms, twin rooms, staff changing facilities, and family meeting rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The HSE writes this additional bed capacity will be served by an additional 78 staff.<\/p>\n<p>In its planning statement, the HSE wrote the need for the expansion of acute hospital in-patient bed capacity is a priority, in order to increase the number of beds available to treat patients requiring hospital care.<\/p>\n<p>This priority is in line with the Sl\u00e1intecare Programme and the Acute Hospital Inpatient Bed Capacity Expansion Plan 2024-2031.<\/p>\n<p>This plan sets a target for the number of in-patient bed capacity to increase by 108 additional beds between 2024 and 2031, 30 of which will be achieved by this development.<\/p>\n<p>No additional car parking spaces are provided to serve the new extension, while solar panels will be fitted on the roof.<\/p>\n<p>Planning permission was granted subject to four conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Planning has been granted for a new three-storey extension at UHK which will deliver 30 additional patient beds.&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":23375,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[73],"tags":[19803,79,18,19,17],"class_list":{"0":"post-23374","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-business","8":"tag-beds","9":"tag-business","10":"tag-eire","11":"tag-ie","12":"tag-ireland"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23374","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=23374"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23374\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/23375"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23374"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=23374"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=23374"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
