investors continued to rotate out of the artificial intelligence trade in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of AI plays, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/ORCL\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oracle<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AVGO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Broadcom<\/a>, slipped more than 5% and 2% respectively, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft<\/a> also saw some losses.<\/p>\n<p>Over in Asia, South Korea&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kospi<\/a> led losses in the region for a second straight day, losing 1.78%, while the small-cap Kosdaq plunged 2.12%. <\/p>\n<p>Shares of Korea Zinc plunged as much as 11.24% after the company reportedly agreed to sell $1.9 billion of shares to a joint venture controlled by the U.S. government and unnamed U.S.-based strategic investors, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Medical treatment company ADEL signed a drug development deal with French pharma giant Sanofi worth up to $1.04 billion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/adel-signs-1-04-billion-global-license-agreement-with-sanofi-for-adel-y01--a-novel-investigational-alzheimers-disease-therapy-302642662.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to the South Korean-based company late Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a> fell 1.27%, dragged by basic materials and real estate stocks, while the Topix dropped 1.32%. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.spglobal.com\/Public\/Home\/PressRelease\/00057777092b473d87a8b765355f5e16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Japan&#8217;s flash composite PMI<\/a> indicated a softer expansion in December, coming in at 51.5 compared to the previous month&#8217;s 52.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hang Seng index<\/a> slipped 1.47%, weighed down by basic materials and energy stocks, while the mainland Chinese CSI 300 was down 0.92%.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> lost 0.29%, reversing earlier gains. <\/p>\n<p>Flash purchasing managers index numbers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.spglobal.com\/Public\/Home\/PressRelease\/45757f9a63f041ebb96a1b270a6e8cd1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">from S&amp;P Global<\/a> showed that business activity expanded at a slower pace in Australia in December, with the composite PMI falling to 51.1 from November&#8217;s 52.6.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Aerial view
