{"id":236981,"date":"2025-12-17T06:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T06:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/236981\/"},"modified":"2025-12-17T06:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T06:26:11","slug":"chinas-new-invest-in-people-slogan-heralds-a-rethink-in-economic-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/236981\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s new \u2018invest in people\u2019 slogan heralds a rethink in economic strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Beijing\u2019s fresh imperative to \u201cinvest in people\u201d \u2013 first raised in a proposal for the 15th five-year plan and reaffirmed at an agenda-setting policy meeting last week \u2013 reflects a rethink in economic strategy designed to stimulate domestic demand and improve social welfare, analysts said.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s leaders <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/policy\/article\/3336076\/china-stresses-domestic-demand-after-closely-watched-economic-conference?module=Global%20Economy&amp;pgtype=section?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">vowed to \u201cfully tap\u201d<\/a> the domestic economy\u2019s potential at the annual central economic work conference held last week, which laid out their economic policy priorities for 2026.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">A readout from the meeting said the country must \u201ccombine investment in physical assets with investment in people\u201d, while acknowledging the economy faced a catalogue of structural challenges, including weak domestic demand and persistent deflationary pressure.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Tang Dajie, a senior researcher at the China Enterprise Institute think tank in Beijing, said the \u201cinvest in people\u201d slogan reflected Beijing\u2019s focus on boosting consumption, as well as more holistic efforts to improve people\u2019s livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cIt started with addressing weak consumption but has evolved into full development for all people,\u201d Tang said. \u201cIf people are well taken care of, there will be no weak consumption.
