Beginning in 2029, Hollywood\u2019s biggest night in movies will officially be broadcast via YouTube, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The multiyear deal between the academy and YouTube runs through 2033 and will give the online streamer exclusive global rights to the awards show, red carpet coverage, behind-the-scenes footage, Governors Ball access and more, according to <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/press.oscars.org\/news\/academy-partners-youtube-exclusive-global-rights-oscarsr-and-other-academy-content-starting\" data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:an official press release;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">an official press release<\/a> from the academy. The deal, according to the release, will also increase the awards show\u2019s accessibility and widen the academy\u2019s global audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe are thrilled to enter into a multifaceted global partnership with YouTube to be the future home of the Oscars and our year-round Academy programming,\u201d Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Lynette Howell Taylor said in a statement. \u201cThe Academy is an international organization, and this partnership will allow us to expand access to the work of the Academy to the largest worldwide audience possible \u2014 which will be beneficial for our Academy members and the film community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kramer and Taylor continued, \u201cThis collaboration will leverage YouTube\u2019s vast reach and infuse the Oscars and other Academy programming with innovative opportunities for engagement while honoring our legacy. We will be able to celebrate cinema, inspire new generations of filmmakers and provide access to our film history on an unprecedented global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The shift will mark the end of the awards show\u2019s longtime partnership with ABC, which has hosted the ceremony since 1976.
