AIC per capita is expressed in <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Purchasing_power_standard_(PPS)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">purchasing power standards<\/a> (PPS) and is used as a measure of material welfare of households.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Last year, 10 countries recorded an AIC per capita equal to or above the EU average. Luxembourg led with a level at 46% above the EU average, followed by the Netherlands (20% above) and Germany (19% above).<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">The lowest levels of AIC per capita were registered in Latvia (28% below the EU average), and Bulgaria and Hungary (both 27% below).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/4187653\/22766913\/actual-individual-consumption-volume-index-capita-2024.jpg\/49056fb6-16ac-87b0-d4a5-9abacfe90d8b?t=1765958356970\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Actual individual consumption volume index per capita, 2024  (in purchasing power standard).
