The Galway Plaza will host a festive \u2018Light up for Iggy\u2019, a Christmas tractor run and family fun day on Sunday, December 28, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, bringing families, farmers and the wider community together for an excellent cause.<\/p>\n
The event will feature a Christmas tractor run, family-friendly entertainment and prizes, with all proceeds going to Cholangiocarcinoma Ireland, supporting \u00c9anna Ryan\u2019s \u2018Run for Iggy\u2019 fundraising campaign.<\/p>\n
The initiative is held in loving memory of Iggy Daly, who passed away earlier this year from cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive bile duct cancer. \u2018Light up for Iggy\u2019 celebrates his life while helping to raise awareness and vital funds for a disease that remains under-recognised.<\/p>\n
Speaking ahead of the event, Pat McDonagh, founder of Supermac\u2019s and the Plaza Group, said, \u201cIggy was a much-loved family man and a true gentleman, and his loss is still felt deeply by everyone who knew him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event is about remembering Iggy in a positive, uplifting way, while also supporting the incredible efforts being made by \u00c9anna and by Cholangiocarcinoma Ireland to raise awareness of a cancer that doesn\u2019t get the attention needed. At Christmas especially, bringing people together for a good cause is what community is all about.\u201d<\/p>\n
Visitors can expect a lively and welcoming atmosphere, featuring face painting, raffles, and spot prizes, as well as live entertainment performances by Kiltullagh Choir and prizes for the best decorated tractors in class.<\/p>\n
Families are encouraged to wrap up warm, bring the kids, and enjoy a festive evening together as the tractors light up the plaza. Members of the public are welcome to attend, donate, and support on the evening.<\/p>\n
Funds raised will directly support \u00c9anna Ryan, former Galway hurler and general manager at M6 Motors, who will take on the Marathon des Sables in April, a gruelling 250km ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert, in honour of his late uncle Iggy.<\/p>\n
\u00c9anna\u2019s campaign aims not only to raise funds but to shine a light on cholangiocarcinoma and support families affected by the disease through the work of Cholangiocarcinoma Ireland.<\/p>\n
