They will also provide support for scientific research with the data. During operations, NSF funding is managed by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aura-astronomy.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">AURA<\/a>) under a cooperative agreement with NSF, and DOE funding is managed by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (<a href=\"https:\/\/www6.slac.stanford.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">SLAC<\/a>), under contract by DOE. Rubin Observatory is operated by <a href=\"https:\/\/noirlab.edu\/public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">NSF NOIRLab<\/a> and SLAC.<\/p>\n<p>NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science.
