An urgent warning has been issued to Irish shoppers as a recall notice was issued for a popular snack sold in supermarkets across the country over health fears.<\/p>\n
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland<\/a> (FSAI) announced on Friday that a urgent recall has been issued for certain batches of The Galway Kitchen Classic Houmous as they “may pose a microbiological risk”.<\/p>\n The Mediterranean-inspired dip is a popular item in cheese boards and is sold in Tesco<\/a> stores across Ireland, priced at \u20ac1.20.<\/p>\n According to the FSAI, certain batches of the popular product are being pulled from shelves due to an incorrect use-by date.<\/p>\n The affected Galway Kitchen Classic Houmous, pack size 200g, has an incorrect use-by date of 19\/01\/2026.<\/p>\n Anyone who has the affected batch at home is advised to not eat it after Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n An FSAI spokesperson said: “The above batch of The Galway Kitchen Classic Houmous is being recalled due to an incorrect use-by date.<\/p>\n “If consumed after the 24th of December 2025, this may pose a microbiological risk which may make the batch unsafe to eat. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.”<\/p>\n Any implicated packets have since been removed from sale and recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.<\/p>\n This latest recall comes after several batches of Irish quail eggs were pulled from shelves<\/a> after salmonella was detected.<\/p>\n The FSAI issued a “do not eat” warning for specific batches of Quail.ie Always Fresh 20 Quail Eggs on Thursday.<\/p>\n Quail.ie’s websites states that it supplies quail eggs to “shops and butchers in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and beyond”.<\/p>\n The recall was triggered due to the presence of salmonella, a bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness <\/a>and, in some cases, serious complications.<\/p>\n![\"The](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0_Houmous-picture.jpg\")
