{"id":24387,"date":"2025-08-26T13:42:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T13:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/24387\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T13:42:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T13:42:07","slug":"mainoo-in-line-for-controversial-move-as-ambitious-approach-is-made-with-star-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/24387\/","title":{"rendered":"Mainoo in line for controversial move as &#8216;ambitious approach&#8217; is made with star &#8216;open&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is the subject of an \u2018ambitious approach\u2019 from the Red Devils\u2019 arch-rivals Leeds, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Devils have made big moves to improve their attack in the summer transfer window <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/every-premier-league-transfer-release-completed-summer-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>with Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo all arriving<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/manchester-united\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Man Utd<\/strong><\/a> are now looking to move some players on with Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund among the players who could leave before the end of the transfer window.<\/p>\n<p>Mainoo is now another player who could be on his way out of Old Trafford after failing to agree a new contract earlier in the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Man Utd were \u201cvery close to reaching an agreement\u201d with Mainoo a couple of months ago but that is now not the case.<\/p>\n<p>Romano said on his YouTube channel: \u201cIt was months ago when Man United were very close to reaching an agreement with Kobbie Mainoo over a new contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/man-utd-transfer-hojlund-completed-48-hours-package-sealed-personal-terms-agreed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Man Utd transfer to be completed \u2018within 48 hours\u2019 after \u20ac45m package is sealed<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen what happened was that Dan Ashworth, who was leading those negotiations, left the club and new directors [took control] and so for Manchester United it was time to restart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut at the moment there is still no negotiations [over an exit], I would not add any panic to the situation of Kobbie Mainoo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Athletic\u2018s David Ornstein revealed earlier on Tuesday that Mainoo is \u2018open to leaving\u2019 Man Utd this summer but that there is one \u2018issue\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/man-utd-ornstein-confirms-mainoo-decision-as-issue-raised-with-deadline-day-deal-mooted\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ornstein wrote in The Athletic<\/strong><\/a>: \u2018Kobbie Mainoo is open to leaving Manchester United.
