Rinse containers, let them dry, and avoid putting recyclables in plastic bags.<\/p>\n<p><b>What Goes Where:<\/b> Paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals are recyclable, but watch out for contaminants like food residue or mixed materials (e.g., bubble-lined envelopes).<\/p>\n<p><b>Local Recycling Centres:<\/b> For items like glass, batteries, and electronics, bring them to civic amenity sites instead of your household bin.<\/p>\n<p><b>Make It a Family Affair: <\/b>Post a simple recycling guide in your kitchen and encourage accountability across all household members.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/00216d63-614.jpg\"\/><br \/>\nGetty Images<\/p>\n<p><b>Christmas Recycling Tips<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Quite simply, there are three categories of materials: <b>paper <\/b>and <b>cardboard<\/b>; <b>plastics<\/b>; and <b>metals<\/b>, <b>tins <\/b>and <b>foil<\/b>. These are the different types of packaging items that can go in your recycling bin \u2013 clean, dry and loose.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, while most varieties of <b>wrapping paper<\/b> and <b>gift cards<\/b> can go in the recycling bin, glitter and sellotape can not. Glitters and metallic shapes used in gift wrap can make it non-recyclable.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, <b>tinsel <\/b>cannot be recycled due to its metallic content.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0021794b-614.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The <b>plastic trays<\/b> layered in your tins of biscuits, chocolates and mince pies can all go in the recycling bin &#8211; but they must be wiped down first.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>plastic wrapping<\/b> holding the bread for your many, many Christmas sandwiches can go in the recycling bin &#8211; but the crumbs can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p><b>Bubble wrap <\/b>and <b>packaging boxes <\/b>can be recycled.
