{"id":247366,"date":"2025-12-23T10:01:29","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T10:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/247366\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T10:01:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T10:01:29","slug":"asia-markets-mostly-climb-after-ai-trade-lifts-wall-street-overnight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/247366\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia markets mostly climb after AI trade lifts Wall Street overnight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An electronic quotation board displays the Nikkei 225 stock prices on the Tokyo stock Exchange in Tokyo on Nov. 5, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Baker | Afp | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets opened mostly higher Tuesday, after AI trade lifted major Wall Street indexes overnight. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a>\u00a0shares rose more than 1% after Reuters said the company was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/12\/21\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">looking to start<\/a> shipments of its H200 chips to China by mid-February.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MU\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Micron Technology<\/a>\u00a0climbed around 4%, while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/ORCL\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oracle<\/a>\u00a0advanced more than 3%.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> rose 1.1% to close at 8,795.7, marking a fourth straight day of gains. <\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a> ended marginally above the flatline at 50,412.87, extending gains to a third day. The broad-based Topix gained 0.53% to 3,423.25, led by financials and healthcare stocks.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Japan&#8217;s Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/japan-has-free-hand-dealing-with-excessive-yen-moves-finance-minister-tells-2025-12-22\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reportedly said<\/a> the country had a &#8220;free hand&#8221; in dealing with the yen&#8217;s recent sharp depreciation, signaling a currency intervention was not off the table. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/JPY=\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">yen<\/a> weakened sharply on Friday, despite the Bank of Japan raising interest rates to a 30-year high, hitting a low of 157.77 against the dollar before strengthening on Monday and Tuesday. It was last trading at 156.14.<\/p>\n<p>Katayama said that the Japanese currency&#8217;s fluctuations do not reflect economic fundamentals, describing them as &#8220;speculative.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kospi<\/a> climbed 0.28% to 4,117.32, also clocking a three-day winning streak, but the small-cap Kosdaq slipped 1.03% to 919.56.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of shipbuilding firm Hanwha Ocean <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/12\/23\/hanwha-ocean-shares-jump-10percent-after-trump-says-firm-to-build-warships-for-us-navy.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">surged 10%<\/a> after U.S. President Donald Trump said the company was going to work with the U.S. Navy to build its new frigates.  <\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hang Seng index<\/a> bucked the trend and was down 0.1% in its last hour of trade, with basic materials stocks leading the slide, while mainland China&#8217;s CSI 300 extended its winning streak to three days, gaining 0.2% to close at 4,620.73.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese newcomers lit up the Hong Kong market on their debut Tuesday, with QingSong Health Corporation and Nuobikan Artificial Intelligence Technology jumping 134% and 323%, respectively, after their strong albeit small IPOs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>QingSong Health Corporation&#8217;s Hong Kong IPO was met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.hkexnews.hk\/listedco\/listconews\/sehk\/2025\/1222\/2025122201716.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">overwhelming demand<\/a>, with the domestic tranche subscribed 1,421 times, according to its exchange filing, raising nearly 602 million Hong Kong dollars (about $77 million).
