Hundreds of people have turned out in Dublin City tonight for the annual Christmas Eve busk in aid of the Dublin Simon Community.<\/p>\n
Oscar-winning singer-songwriter Glen Hansard kicked off proceedings from 5pm, outside the Gaiety Theatre off Grafton Street.<\/p>\n
The busk is now in its 15th year.<\/p>\n
A host of famous faces have joined it over the years, including Dermot Kennedy, Bono, and the Coronas.<\/p>\n
Speaking ahead of tonight’s gig, Dublin Simon Community Chief Executive Catherine Kenny said it\u2019s become a festive tradition.<\/p>\n
She said they are incredibly grateful to Glen Hansard, who was the brainchild behind the event back in 2010.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re incredibly grateful to him and all of the artists who lend their talents to us to help raise money to support our life-saving and life-changing services,” Ms Kenny said.<\/p>\n
“Christmas can be a particularly tough time of year for those experiencing homelessness.
