With an energetic 16-month-old and another baby on the way, Olly and Amelia Murs are the perfect fit as the new faces of The Parent Hood, M&S<\/a> \u2019s club for mums and dads. One of the fastest growing baby clubs in the UK, it is part of the high street chain\u2019s loyalty scheme, Sparks, and encourages young parents to meet up in M&S caf\u00e9s to swap experiences over a cuppa and free slice of cake. It\u2019s a hectic time for Essex-based Olly, 41, and Amelia, 32. The pair, who married two years ago, have their hands full with toddler Madison, who appears with them in the Parent Hood campaign. Outside of daddy duties, singer Olly has just finished his latest tour and he is still presenting his Heart FM weekend radio show alongside fellow M&S ambassador Mark Wright<\/a>. With fitness enthusiast Amelia due to give birth imminently, OK <\/strong>!<\/strong> caught up with the couple to discuss all the highs and lows of parenting\u2026<\/p>\n

Hi guys. Congrats on your role as The Parent Hood ambassadors. It seems a great match\u2026<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> Yeah, I feel like everything has aligned at the right time. We\u2019re so proud to be part of this as a family. Olly:<\/strong> The fact we could do the photo shoot with Madi and the bump was really special. M&S is an amazing brand and part of British culture, and hopefully we can inspire more parents to go to the clubs. It began with you going to the club, didn\u2019t it Amelia?<\/strong> Yes, I\u2019ve been a member almost since it formed. It can be quite lonely as a mum, but this gives you a sense of community, and a reason to go out. There\u2019s so much parents don\u2019t know, but you can learn about everything from weaning recipes to what kind of nursing bra to buy. Olly:<\/strong> It\u2019s lovely that mums can go and just have a chat. You know, \u201cAm I doing it right?\u201d, \u201cThis happened today\u201d, \u201cOh, my god, I did the same thing.\u201d It gives you a bit of reassurance that everyone\u2019s going through the same thing. Are you both keen to be honest about the challenges of parenting?<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> I\u2019ve tried to be a bit more open recently, especially while Olly\u2019s been away. Olly:<\/strong> There\u2019s no point being all happy and Instagrammy and, \u201cIt\u2019s all amazing.\u201d I\u2019m very honest. Being parents is unbelievable, but at the same time it\u2019s extremely hard. Being pregnant, Amelia hasn\u2019t been able to go the gym much, which is her hobby. You don\u2019t want to lose who you are, so it\u2019s about finding a balance. What advice have you given your mate Mark Wright about his and Michelle Keegan\u2019s baby girl Palma?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> People said to me, \u201cOlly, enjoy the first four months. They\u2019re the best time.\u201d And I was like, \u201cWhat?\u201d When Madison came it didn\u2019t feel like that. I told Wrighty that and he took it on board. I\u2019ve been saying, \u201cEnjoy your trip to Majorca, because, trust me, when Palma is crawling or walking in a few months, that\u2019s a whole other level.\u201d I also warned him about the weaning stage. You think they\u2019re choking and your wife\u2019s like, \u201cIt\u2019s fine \u2013 she\u2019s just got to learn how to use her mouth.\u201d What\u2019s it called? The gag reflex. I\u2019m like, \u201cBabe, I can\u2019t. I\u2019m off to sit in the other room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Do you think Palma and Madison will grow up as friends?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> I hope so, being around the same age. And with us being parents at the same time, it\u2019s going to be special. We haven\u2019t had time to make it work because our schedules are so mad, but we will when things calm down. Wrighty and I have already spoken about going on holiday and just being together, which will be fun. We\u2019ve got such a good friendship, and I really want Michelle and Amelia to meet properly. I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll have loads in common. How\u2019s Madison doing?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> A few weeks ago, she was the best I\u2019ve ever seen her. For two weeks, she ate everything Amelia gave her. But for the last three or four days, it\u2019s been, \u201cNope, don\u2019t like that.\u201d It\u2019s the same food as last week! What\u2019s going on? She\u2019s babbling away now. It sounds like she\u2019s speaking French or German. Which one of you is she most like?<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> She\u2019s very like Olly in that she loves an audience and is very extrovert. But she\u2019s also quite independent and if we\u2019re trying to feed her she\u2019s like, \u201cI\u2019m doing that myself\u201d \u2013 with spaghetti going everywhere. Olly:<\/strong> Me and Amelia can both be very stubborn. She\u2019s definitely got that part of us. Who\u2019s the best nappy-changer?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> We have two different styles. Amelia\u2019s very precise and it\u2019s a real experience. Madi\u2019s got her toys and she\u2019s all calm. Me, I\u2019m like an F1 pit-stopper, I just get it done quickly. Do you think you\u2019ll be a strict dad when Madison is older?<\/strong> Yeah, because that\u2019s how my parents were with me. I think discipline and respect are important. I don\u2019t want her to have any self-entitlement or to feel like she deserves anything more than anyone else. I want to her to be grounded. Are you managing to squeeze in some date nights ahead of Baby No.2?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> We were meant to go to Wimbledon, but it was 36 degrees, so we didn\u2019t think it was a good idea. Amelia:<\/strong> We\u2019re dropping Madi off to Olly\u2019s mum later so we can do some clearing out. Does that count? With another baby due, there must be lots of different emotions\u2026<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> It changes week by week as I get closer to having the baby. We can\u2019t wait to meet who\u2019s in there and see Madi with a sibling. But I get a bit overwhelmed when I think of having two under two. Olly:<\/strong> We know we can do it and it\u2019s going to be fine. The most important thing is that the baby is healthy.<\/p>\n

Did you have an unplanned C-section last time?<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> We were planning a natural birth, but Madi was in a precarious position. She was transverse [sideways] so we didn\u2019t have an option. The recovery was brutal and I wish people had been more honest about that. Maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019m active, but I didn\u2019t realise how much I wouldn\u2019t be able to do afterwards. You\u2019ve chosen not to find out the sex, but do you have a hunch?<\/strong> Amelia:<\/strong> It\u2019s hard to tell, because I was convinced Madi was a boy. But I do think this one is a boy. Olly:<\/strong> Obviously, that\u2019d be cool, but I\u2019m swaying more to thinking it\u2019s a girl. I\u2019d love that, I genuinely would. Have you planned this birth yet?<\/strong> Olly:<\/strong> We\u2019re reaching the point where we have to make decisions. But this feels like a different pregnancy<\/a>. Amelia:<\/strong> We know that this baby\u2019s not transverse, which is good. Olly:<\/strong> We\u2019re very excited and announcing this thing with M&S has made it much more real. Two or three more weeks and we\u2019re gonna be right back at it!<\/p>\n
