He died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man was a member of the public and it is understood the incident is being treated as a \u201ctragic accident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/irish-rail\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/irish-rail\">Irish Rail<\/a> staff reported the incident, and trains were suspended through the station while emergency services responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Services remained suspended until shortly after 3.30pm, Irish Rail said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cTragically, despite efforts of station staff and emergency services personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,\u201d an Irish Rail spokesman said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOur deepest sympathies are with the loved ones of the deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Local Fine Gael councillor Lorraine Hall described it as a \u201cdeeply tragic accident\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cMy thoughts are with the family and friends of the person who has lost their life.
