{"id":253014,"date":"2025-12-26T21:57:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T21:57:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/253014\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T21:57:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T21:57:16","slug":"mo-salah-egypt-winner-extends-liverpool-afcon-absence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/253014\/","title":{"rendered":"Mo Salah Egypt Winner Extends Liverpool AFCON Absence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a data-ail=\"332142\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisanfield.com\/liverpool-fc\/mohamed-salah\/\" title=\"Mohamed Salah\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mohamed Salah<\/a> has led 10-man Egypt to the knockouts of the Africa Cup of Nations after scoring the only goal in his side\u2019s win over South Africa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the second time in as many games, Salah scored for his country and proved the difference, with a 1-0 win on Boxing Day secured from the penalty spot. <\/p>\n<p>The Group B fixture pitted the two favourite teams to progress against one another, and Egypt got the breakthrough in the first half after VAR intervention.<\/p>\n<p>Liverpool\u2019s No. 11 received a whack to the face as the defender swung his hand back in the penalty area. The referee was asked to consult the pitchside monitor and then awarded a spot kick.<\/p>\n<p>On the cusp of half time, Salah converted with a cheeky dink down the middle of the goal, although he would have been relieved to see the goalkeeper dive to his left!<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"in\" dir=\"ltr\">?
