{"id":254609,"date":"2025-12-27T20:35:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-27T20:35:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/254609\/"},"modified":"2025-12-27T20:35:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-27T20:35:08","slug":"14-psni-officers-assaulted-in-st-stephens-day-incidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/254609\/","title":{"rendered":"14 PSNI officers assaulted in St Stephen&#8217;s Day incidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fourteen PSNI officers were assaulted across Fermanagh, east Tyrone, Armagh and south Down in separate incidents on St Stephen&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<p>The 14 assaults included a biting incident which led to one officer being hospitalised.<\/p>\n<p>PSNI Chief Inspector Adam Ruston condemned the violence, describing it as a shocking number of assaults on police, which he said is &#8220;totally unacceptable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This type of behaviour places members of the public and our officers at risk of serious harm and we are lucky not to be dealing with serious injuries,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Two police officers were injured when a car rammed a patrol vehicle in Forkhill in south Armagh. The car later crossed over the border, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Insp Ruston appealed to the public for information on the incident.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At around 1.40am a silver Renault Megane collided with a police car on patrol in the area.
