The Carrigaline Playground Project received a welcome pre-Christmas bonus in its ongoing campaign to refurbish the popular community amenity.<\/p>\n
In a post on its Facebook page the group announced some: \u201cBig news for our community.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust in time for Christmas the Carrigaline Playground Committee has been awarded \u20ac100,000 from Leader through Secad towards the refurbishment of the playground,\u201d read the post.<\/p>\n
“This is the grant we have been working on in the background for the last year. We managed to secure the maximum amount we could have been awarded and we are delighted to be able to share with the Carrigaline community that all our hard work has paid off.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n “This is a pivotal moment in our journey to refurbish the playground.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
The award bring the project\u2019s current funding to around \u20ac225,000, meaning they can complete the initial phase of the refurbishment, which will cost \u20ac200,000.<\/p>\n
They went to tender several weeks ago, and Browne Brothers have been awarded the contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPhases two and three will be approx \u20ac125,000 so we still have a little to go which we are busy working on in the background. We hope to have news on this early next year.<\/p>\n
All going well all phases will be completed simultaneously and we are aiming for works to commence early spring.<\/p>\n
