A new comedy film is in the works based on the\u00a0challenge of getting into the legendary Berlin nightclub\u00a0Berghain.<\/p>\n
Reports emerged earlier this month that the currently-untitled project is in production, inspired by a multi-part episode of the podcast Search Engine, titled, \u2018Why didn\u2019t Chris and Dan get into\u00a0Berghain?\u2019<\/p>\n
The episodes documented the story of two Americans who flew across the Atlantic to try to get past the notoriously strict entry policy at the club, considered one of the most exclusive in the world.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0Deadline<\/a>,\u00a0the film will be written by\u00a0Saturday Night Live <\/a>and Wicked <\/a>star Bowen Yang and his Las\u00a0Culturistas\u00a0podcast co-host Matt Rogers, with the two also set to star as the central characters.<\/p>\n No title or release date has been announced for the film, but it will\u00a0reportedly be\u00a0produced and distributed by Disney\u2019s Searchlight Pictures.<\/p>\n Berghain\u00a0is one of the world\u2019s most famous techno clubs, famous for its huge industrial space and massive soundsystem. Known for its queer-friendly policies, its infamously stringent\u00a0door policy and long, late-night\u00a0queues\u00a0are among\u00a0its defining features, with bouncers judging wannabe\u00a0revellers\u00a0by how closely they\u00a0\u2018fit\u2019 the club\u2019s ethos.<\/p>\n One of the best known of those bouncers, Sven Marquardt,\u00a0made a cameo in Keanu Reeves\u2019 John Wick: Chapter 4\u00a0in 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n The club shares its name with a track from\u00a0Rosal\u00eda<\/a>\u2018s acclaimed new album \u2018Lux<\/a>\u2019, which was released last month. The track features\u00a0Bj\u00f6rk<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Yves Tumor<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the artist has said that she\u00a0drew on the literal meaning of Berghain<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the German for \u201cmountain grove\u201d \u2013 in writing the song.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
