Emergency services were called to reports of the incident at the five-star Lough Erne Resort shortly before 1pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and the NI Ambulance Service remained at the scene for hours, an eyewitness said.<\/p>\n

Four fire appliances, including the Specialist Rescue Team, were in attendance.<\/p>\n

On arrival, firefighters discovered a paraglider trapped on the roof of the building, where they deployed several ladders to reach the patient.<\/p>\n

NIFRS said they received a \u2018Special Service Call\u2019 at 12.51pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree appliances, two from Enniskillen and one from Lisnaskea, the Specialist Rescue Team and a Turntable Ladder are in attendance, NIFRS said.<\/p>\n

“NIFRS crews have rescued a male from the second floor roof of the hotel, and he is now in the care of NIAS.\u201d<\/p>\n

NIAS confirmed that it received a 999 call at 12.49pm on Sunday 28 December following reports of an incident in the area of Lough Shore Road.<\/p>\n

NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic, one Hazardous Area Response Team Crew and one Emergency Crew to the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to South West Acute Hospital,\u201d an NIAS statement concluded.<\/p>\n

Lough Erne Resort also released a statement about the incident and sought to reassure guests.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cWe can confirm the earlier incident involving a paraglider which had been in collision with part of our main hotel complex has now been closed with the individual being taken to hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone at the resort wishes them well. The resort has now been reopened to the general public.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, the resort had posted: \u201cWe can confirm that Emergency Services are in attendance as a result of an incident in which a person believed to be flying a paraglider was in collision with the hotel property.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from the immediate vicinity of the incident, the resort is operating normally and bookings are not affected.<\/p>\n

“Until the emergency services have completed their work, access to the resort will be restricted to resort guests and patrons of our restaurants.\u201d<\/p>\n
