<\/p>\nSeries four follows hot on the heels of the hugely popular celebrity version of the game, which was won by comedian Alan Carr.<\/p>\n
Ahead of the latest series, which launches on New Year\u2019s Day, Winkleman (53) said there is \u201csomething new\u201d that viewers can look forward to.<\/p>\n
The first series of The Celebrity Traitors, which aired in the autumn, was a ratings winner for the BBC, with traitor Carr snatching victory from faithfuls David Olusoga and Nick Mohammed.<\/p>\n
Asked if she ever revealed any spoilers to her family, Winkleman said: \u201cGenuinely I\u2019d lose my job. Plus, there\u2019s no fun in knowing. When Alan won, my husband and youngest son couldn\u2019t stop screaming and crying, and shouting, \u2018but you knew\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking about the upcoming series, Winkleman added: \u201cWhat happens in this series is truly extraordinary, with moments that made me gasp.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t wait for people to see it. The producers have the greatest minds on Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

In The Traitors fourth series, 22 people from across the UK will descend on a Scottish castle to take part in a game of \u201cdeceit and betrayal\u201d with a prize pot of up to \u00a3120,000 (\u20ac138,000).<\/p>\n
Winkleman said: \u201cThe Scottish Highlands might be the most beautiful place on the planet. It\u2019s a privilege to spend so much time surrounded by the jaw-dropping landscape. I\u2019ve never been anywhere like it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s something about the expanse of sky, the breathtaking lochs, and the flora and fauna.\u201d<\/p>\n
Winkleman\u2019s role on the show is to oversee challenges and help pick the traitors, who secretly murder the larger group of faithfuls in a bid to take the prize pot for themselves.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cIt\u2019s nerve-racking, but I don\u2019t choose them alone. I interview all the players and some are absolutely desperate to be faithful. Anyone who convinces me otherwise is in contention.\u201d<\/p>\n
To win the prize money, players must survive until the end of the competition and avoid being \u2018murdered\u2019 or \u2018banished\u2019.<\/p>\n
The BBC has promised \u201ceven more twists, turns, secrets, epic missions, deception, banishments and, of course, murders aplenty\u201d for the upcoming series.<\/p>\n
