Seasonal songs claim the top 24 positions on the survey, surging past the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-hot-100-number-one-18-weeks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prior mark<\/a> of carols taking Nos. 1-16 a year ago this week (on the chart dated Jan. 4, 2025).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHelping the haul of holiday songs, the latest chart\u2019s data tracking period encompassed the week leading up to and including Christmas Day (Dec. 19-25).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThree weeks earlier, \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/lists\/mariah-carey-hot-100-christmas-19-weeks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">returned to No. 1<\/a> on the Hot 100 to rule in a record-extending seventh holiday season. It was released on Carey\u2019s album Merry Christmas in November 1994 and, as <a href=\"https:\/\/luminatedata.com\/reports\/midyear-music-industry-report-2024\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">streaming grew<\/a> and holiday music became more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/business\/business-news\/christmas-songs-breaking-through-music-market-1235009608\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">prominent<\/a> on streaming services\u2019 playlists, it first hit the top 10 in December 2017 and the top five in the 2018 holiday season. It led at last, prior to its four weeks this season, over the holidays <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/articles\/business\/chart-beat\/8546418\/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-number-one\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in 2019<\/a> (for three weeks), 2020 (two), 2021 (three), 2022 (four), 2023 (two) and 2024 (four). (Older holiday songs are <a href=\"https:\/\/billboard.substack.com\/p\/older-hits-will-now-drop-off-the\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eligible<\/a> to appear on the chart each season.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBelow is a rundown of the upper reaches of this week\u2019s very merry Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations.
