The works will address persistent traffic bottlenecks that impact commuters and businesses there, with the district being one of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dublinlive.ie\/all-about\/dublin\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Dublin<\/a> \u2019s largest employment hubs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The improvements are expected to reduce travel times, lower transport-related expenses and ease pressure on local road networks. The upgrades are part of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dublinlive.ie\/all-about\/sandyford\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Sandyford<\/a> Urban Framework Plan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Planned works include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"UnorderedList_unordered-list__gzblI\" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">A new signalised junction on Blackthorn Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Upgrades to the existing M50 Junction 14 roundabout to accommodate a new link road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Enhanced pedestrian and cyclist crossings on Leopardstown Road<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-700e1ff3-0 VljCu\">Dedicated active travel infrastructure to support walking and cycling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">To allow for these works, a road closure will be in place on Blackthorn Road, between the junctions of Burton Hall Road and Heather Road is planned for 12 weeks starting on 19 January 2026, said <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dlrcoco.ie\/capital-programme\/m50-junction-14-link-road\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.<\/a> A diversion route will be in place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0_unnamed.png\" alt=\"M50 J14 drawing taken from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>M50 J14 drawing taken from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Ger Corbett, CEO of Sandyford Business District, said: \u201cImproving access to the district has long been a priority, as efficient infrastructure underpins economic activity and quality of life for those who live and work in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThese long-awaited upgrades at Junction 14 will support sustainable growth, improve daily journeys and strengthen Sandyford Business District\u2019s position as a world-class location for businesses to establish and for people to live and work.
