Residents in north Dublin are being advised to prepare for temporary water supply disruptions and traffic delays as Uisce \u00c9ireann begins a series of major infrastructure works in Skerries and continues projects in Lusk.<\/p>\n
On Shenick Road in Skerries, the utility is set to carry out essential upgrades to both the water and wastewater networks.<\/p>\n
The scheme, which forms part of Uisce \u00c9ireann\u2019s national Growth and Development Programme, will involve laying around 540 metres of new water mains and more than 200 metres of gravity sewer.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Uisce \u00c9ireann said: \u201cThese works are being delivered to support future housing development and improve service resilience for existing customers in Skerries. By upgrading the infrastructure now, we can safeguard services for both current and future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The project is due to begin this week and is expected to run until early 2026, with full road reinstatement anticipated by mid-2026.<\/p>\n
To minimise disruption, the works will be carried out in nine phases, with a combination of footpath and lane closures in place over the duration of the project.<\/p>\n
Short-term water outages are also expected. However, Uisce \u00c9ireann has pledged to notify households and businesses well in advance.<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers may experience short-term water outages, but a minimum of 48 hours\u2019 notice will be provided prior to any planned disruption,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
In Lusk, meanwhile, works are ongoing on Rathmore Road where a Stop\/Go system has been managing traffic.<\/p>\n
Uisce \u00c9ireann confirmed this phase will conclude by 5 September 2025.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter this date, a contraflow system will be introduced for approximately one week. This is to facilitate new housing connections in the area,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
