Ever since Ncuti Gatwa left Doctor Who<\/a> and we were served up a confusing regeneration scene<\/a> involving Billie Piper, fans have speculated on who the next Time Lord could be.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Adolescence<\/a> star Erin Doherty found herself in the frame, even becoming the ‘bookies favourite’ to take on the role.<\/p>\n

Now, in an interview with Radio Time<\/a>s, Doherty addressed the rumours that she could find herself inside the TARDIS next.<\/p>\n

“<\/strong>I\u2019ve heard the Doctor Who rumour,” Doherty said. “I\u2019m into sci-fi and fantasy but I can honestly say there have been no discussions!”<\/p>\n

Doherty also addressed rumours of a follow-up to Netflix mega-hit Adolescence<\/a>, saying she hadn’t heard anything but adding: “Of course I would do it again.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Doctor Who fans have found themselves convinced that David Tennant is returning<\/a> as the Time Lord in the recently confirmed 2026 Christmas Special<\/a><\/p>\n

The special will be written by showrunner Russell T Davies and we already know it will star Billie Piper, Tennant’s former companion actor.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Tennant theory started after the actor did a new interview as part of the BBC online series ‘The Whoniverse Show’, to mark the 20-year anniversary of his first full episode, ‘The Christmas Invasion’.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year Tennant did discuss the possibility of returning to the show while appearing on podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Tennant said<\/a> that “it would depend on what the circumstances were”, while adding: “I went back a couple of years ago \u2013 I did three [episodes] in a row \u2013 which was an absolute joy because it was returning for a short period of time.”<\/p>\n
