{"id":259322,"date":"2025-12-31T05:28:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T05:28:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/259322\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T05:28:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T05:28:11","slug":"i-couldnt-name-the-beatles-before-joining-biopic-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/259322\/","title":{"rendered":"I couldn\u2019t name The Beatles before joining biopic movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actress <strong>Mia McKenna-Bruce<\/strong> admits she \u201cdidn\u2019t know much about The Beatles\u201d, despite being cast as Ringo Starr\u2019s wife in the band\u2019s upcoming <strong>biopic films<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with Tatler magazine, the 28-year-old said she couldn\u2019t name the members of the band, and that their music \u201cwasn\u2019t my jam\u201d, before being cast in The Beatles \u2013 A Four-Film Cinematic Event.<\/p>\n<p>The award-winning actress will portray Starr\u2019s first wife, Maureen Starkey, in the upcoming films, which will follow the lives of the Fab Four and are due to be released in April 2028.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"1253\" width=\"953\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/mia-mckenna-bruce-i-couldn-t-name-the-beatles-before-joining-biopic-movie.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/>McKenna-Bruce said The Beatles \u2018wasn\u2019t my jam\u2019 before she was cast in the films (Oli Kearon\/Tatler Magazine\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about her role, the actress said: \u201cFinally, I can talk about it. I\u2019ve known for near-on-a year, but I couldn\u2019t tell my family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love them all but they have the biggest mouths in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKenna-Bruce said she was never a fan of the best-selling band, and said: \u201cWe sang Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine at school, but it wasn\u2019t my jam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Seven Dials (her upcoming new Agatha Christie drama) Martin Freeman was asking me to name all the Beatles \u2013 I didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen he\u2019d ask me, \u2018what band was Mick Jagger in?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I have no idea Martin\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I\u2019m like, Oh my God, The Beatles are underrated. This is good. It\u2019s music I\u2019d sit and listen to on the train.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"415\" width=\"640\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1767158891_576_mia-mckenna-bruce-i-couldn-t-name-the-beatles-before-joining-biopic-movie.jpg\" alt=\"EE Bafta Film Awards 2025\" data-title=\"EE Bafta Film Awards 2025\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Archive\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Archive\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"Ian West\" data-usage-terms=\"\"\/>She will star in the upcoming films, which will follow the lives of the Fab Four and are due to be released in April 2028 (Ian West\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p>She will star alongside award-winning actresses Aimee Lou Wood, Saoirse Ronan and Anna Sawai in the films, which will be directed by British film-maker Sir Sam Mendes.<\/p>\n<p>Formed in 1960, The Beatles are the best-selling musical act of all time and one of the most influential groups in the world, having achieved 18 UK number one singles and 16 UK number one albums.<\/p>\n<p>Each biopic will tell its own story but intersect to form a portrait of The Beatles\u2019 rise, relationships, and cultural impact.<\/p>\n<p>McKenna-Bruce will also star in the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie\u2019s novel The Seven Dials Mystery, alongside Bafta-winning actors Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman, and Sex Education\u2019s Ed Bluemel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"635\" width=\"953\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1767158891_756_mia-mckenna-bruce-i-couldn-t-name-the-beatles-before-joining-biopic-movie.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/>McKenna-Bruce, left, stars alongside Edward Bluemel, who plays cunning villain Jimmy Thesiger (Oli Kearon\/Tatler Magazine\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p>Set in the 1920s, the series will follow McKenna-Bruce as Lady Eileen \u201cBundle\u201d Brent, finds herself having to unravel a deadly plot after a practical joke at a country house party appears to have gone wrong.<\/p>\n<p>McKenna-Bruce said: \u201cThey set out to make something really cool and modern, but also really Agatha Christie-ish in tone \u2013 and they really managed it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to dive into that world and just have so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The How To Have Sex star also reflected on her time on set with Bonham Carter, who plays her on-screen mother, and said they had \u201cso much fun\u201d working together.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cWe liked to say we were more sisters than mother-daughter. Now they view me as an adult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a mother gives you confidence, because now I have something to fight for.
