A popular Galway restaurant is closing its doors for the final time as owners confirm they will be shutting up shop in 2025.<\/p>\n
The Field Gastro Pub in Gort is set to close down after over eight years of service in the town, where it has grown a loyal customer base.<\/p>\n
Owners confirmed to The Irish Independent that Wednesday, December 31 would mark their final service at the Crowe St eatery.<\/p>\n
A tribute to the co-owners was written by local health food shop Open Sesame who bid a fond farewell on Tuesday, December 30.<\/p>\n
They said: \u201cSad last meal in The Field tonight! They finish up tomorrow. Hope someone can take over this lovely venue and wish the two lads much happiness in whatever they do next.<\/p>\n

The restaurant has seen some famous faces come through their doors over the past few years.<\/p>\n
In 2022, iconic actor Miriam Margolyes OBE paid a visit for lunch with owners only too delighted to serve.<\/p>\n
They said of the experience: \u201cSo happy to welcome Miriam Margolyes OBE in The Field this evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re all big fans! Starstruck!\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, RT\u00c9 star Daithi O\u2019Se popped in for lunch back in 2018 and said they made him \u201cthe best burger in town\u201d.<\/p>\n
The pub first opened its doors back in August 2017.<\/p>\n

Locals shared their sadness at the news of the gastropub\u2019s closure as one said: \u201cWill be missed. Such a gap in the market in Gort for restaurants. Had such great meals in there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another said: \u201cSad to see The Field closing. Wishing you both all the best for the future, thanks for the great meals and memories!\u201d<\/p>\n
A third wrote: \u201cI’m so sad to read this. Loved going there.
