{"id":260924,"date":"2026-01-01T02:48:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T02:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/260924\/"},"modified":"2026-01-01T02:48:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T02:48:06","slug":"joshua-leaves-nigerian-hospital-after-surviving-car-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/260924\/","title":{"rendered":"Joshua leaves Nigerian hospital after surviving car crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, state officials said, after surviving a fatal car accident in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/boxing\/2025\/1229\/1550816-joshua-injured-in-fatal-car-crash-in-nigeria-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mr Joshua was travelling on Monday with friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele on a busy highway linking Lagos and Ibadan in the southwest of the country when their SUV rammed into a stationary truck<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) in Ogun state, where the accident occurred, said preliminary investigations showed the vehicle was moving at excessive speed and had burst a tyre before the crash.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Anthony Joshua was discharged from hospital late this afternoon,&#8221; Lagos and Ogun state governments spokesmen said in a joint statement late last night.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Though heavy hearted and full of emotion over the loss of his two close friends, he was deemed clinically fit to recuperate at home,&#8221;
