His dream is to make it to the top tier of international ping-pong, and nothing, not a woman pregnant with his child (Odessa A\u2019zion), not a Japanese arch-rival (Koto Kawaguchi), will stop him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The only thing stopping Marty is his impulsiveness and grandiose opinion of himself, which lands him in hot water with the sport\u2019s overseeing body. So ensues a madcap dash through nocturnal 1950s New York, dodging cops, jealous husbands, and a local crime boss (Abel Ferrera) while finding time to sleaze a retired film star (Gwyneth Paltrow).<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Safdie (working solo instead of as one half of the Safdie Brothers) floors the accelerator in a way that will be no surprise to anyone who\u2019s seen Uncut Gems or Good Time. Tremendous fun with no let-up, in other words. As for Chalamet, he\u2019ll be good value for his Oscar should it materialise.
