{"id":26205,"date":"2025-08-27T09:41:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T09:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/26205\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T09:41:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T09:41:08","slug":"heavy-rain-spreads-across-east-of-country-as-weekend-forecast-looks-unsettled-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/26205\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavy rain spreads across east of country as weekend forecast looks unsettled \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The curtain appears to be coming down on Ireland\u2019s summer with heavy rain across the east on Wednesday morning leading the country into more unsettled and somewhat colder conditions as the week progresses. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">While it is too early to definitively say, people heading to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/electric-picnic\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/electric-picnic\">Electric Picnic<\/a> in Stradbally on Friday would do well to pack their wellies and ponchos with some rainfall looking all but inevitable over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A band of heavy thundery rain with local lightning is washing over northern and eastern counties this morning, but will quickly give way to sunny spells and scattered heavy showers with most of them affecting Atlantic counties, merging to longer spells of rain with lightning a possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Later in the day, the showers will extend further east with temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees with the warmest weather likely in Leinster.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Wednesday night will bring further scattered heavy showers, again merging to longer spells of thundery rain across Atlantic counties with spot flooding.
